QUALIFIERS FOR DREAMHACK MASTERS MALMÖ

Today we roll out the qualification process for the $250,000 DreamHack Masters Malmö. Given the calendar for CS:GO currently, the qualification structure has changed slightly from previous events and has been scheduled with best efforts to fit everyone’s needs and not clash with other events or qualifiers. A total of four teams will qualify via regional qualifiers which will cover Europe, North America and Asia-Oceania.

Twelve of the sixteen teams for DreamHack Masters Malmö will be determine via direct invites, while the remaining four will have to battle their way through qualifiers to make their way to Malmö. To maintain from previous events and in the effort to make the event a true worldwide tournament, we are rolling out qualifiers on three continents – Europe, North America and Asia. All qualifiers will consist of an open and closed part of the qualifier. Each qualifier will only allow teams playing from within the specific regions to compete in the regional qualifiers. European qualifier – July 9-11 – 2 spots – HOSTED BY ESEA

Open qualifier
The Open Qualifier will take place on July 9, open for up to 512 teams, all matches will be played best-of-one in a single-elimination bracket. The top eight teams from the Open Qualifier will advance to the Closed Qualifier.

Closed qualifier
The Closed Qualifier is set to take place on July 11, with eight teams from the Open Qualifier joined by eight invited teams. All matches will be played best-of-three in a single-elimination bracket, teams reaching the final of the qualifier will qualify for the event incl. travel and accommodation.

How to sign up
Log in to the ESEA website and open a support ticket by going here. Please use the name Malmö EU for the ticket subject with “Events” as the ticket type.

North American qualifier – July 9-11 – 1 spot – HOSTED BY ESEA

Open qualifier
The Open Qualifier will take place on July 9, open for up to 512 teams, all matches will be played best-of-one in a single-elimination bracket. The top eight teams from the Open Qualifier will advance to the Closed Qualifier.

Asia-Oceania qualifier – June 11-25th – 1 spot – HOSTED BY SOSTRONK

Having learnt from past experiences in the DreamHack Masters Las Vegas Qualifiers, we’ve decided to include the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the Asia Qualifiers, while the rest of Middle East will play in the EU qualifiers. This is to ensure the teams from the entire region get the fairest pings possible where it won’t be a hindrance in their matches.

The Open Qualifiers in the various regions will take place on June 11-18th, each region having their own qualifier. All matches will be played best-of-one in a single-elimination bracket, except the Semis and Finals which will be best-of-three. The top six teams from the Open Qualifier will advance to the Closed Qualifier.

Oceania – 1 slot to closed qualifier – June 11-13th
GCC – 1 slot to closed qualifier – June 12-14th
India & SEA – 2 slots to closed qualifier – June 12-15th
East Asia – 1 slot to closed qualifier – June 16-18th
China – 1 slot to closed qualifier – June 16-18th

Closed qualifier
The Closed Qualifier is set to take place on June 23-25th, with six teams from the Open Qualifiers joined by two invited teams. It will be played online with Singapore or Taiwan as the server locations. Teams who qualify for the closed qualifiers are advised to bear this in mind. All matches will be played best-of-three in a single-elimination bracket, the team winning the qualifier will qualify for the event incl. travel and accommodation.
